Why is it harder for kids to get adopted when they are not babies?

‘Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person.’

This little quote encapsulates the real reason why every single one of us needs to step up and make a difference. It doesn’t matter what you do; it doesn’t how much you give; every little bit counts. There are so many in the world who don’t have even a fraction of what you possess, and sharing your luck, and your privilege is the only right thing to do.

Giving is good, but giving as a habit is what we are advocating here. Here are some reasons to commit to charity:

1. Teach your kids the importance of giving:
Caring for others is a life lesson that we need to teach all our kids as early as possible. Doing it as a family teaches them by example and normalizes it, and makes it a part of their lives. A habit inculcated in formative years carries on forever, and putting your children on the path of goodness can only result in more good karma coming their way.

2. It is good for you:
A growing body of studies validates something that most givers already know – giving brings pleasure. An ancient Chinese proverb is now supported by scientific research

“If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”

Data supports that giving generously of your time, talent and money is a sure shot way to finding fulfillment and meaning in your life and transcending your current difficulties.

3. What goes around comes around:
Karma might be an esoteric concept, but we have all seen it play out sometime or another in our lives. Your good deed somewhere comes back to you – in kind, in words, even in happy feelings. Giving will bring good in your life and home – one way or another.

4. Expand your social circle
It is a great way to meet like-minded, kind people. For most of us stuck in the daily circle of work, commute, and home, volunteering can add an extra dimension to routine life. It allows you to step out of your comfort zone and engage with an entirely different set of people. Opening your life to a different worldview can only help your personality grow and your mind expands.

If we have motivated you to commit to Charity, then do remember that giving is not just about donating money; you can also give your time and effort by volunteering to a cause that interests you or help people by contributing things such as food, toys, clothes, etc.
