Help Us Bring Sports Equipment to the School in Kosovska Kamenica
Our next project takes us to Kosovo and Metohija, Serbia, to the elementary school OŠ “Desanka Maksimović” in Kosovska Kamenica.
We want to give its students something every child deserves: the equipment to run, jump, play and move. To make it happen, we need to raise at least $3,500.
About the school
OŠ “Desanka Maksimović” is about 150 years old. It was founded by local villagers, on the foundations of an earlier Serbian elementary school.
Today, more than 200 students learn there, many of them coming from the surrounding villages. One of the school’s branch departments recently reopened after almost 30 years.
The school is known for what its students achieve: awards at national competitions, places at the Petnica Research Center, and workshops where children paint, make music, cook, act and learn traditional crafts. Its library, built up book by book through the principal’s own effort, is now one of the best in the region.
What the students are missing is simple: proper equipment for physical education and outdoor lessons, so that every child can stay active, healthy and creative.
